A man from Round Rock received a two-year sentence for stealing over $600,000 worth of cryptocurrency.
ROUND ROCK, Texas —
A federal court in Austin sentenced a man from Round Rock to 24 months in prison for conspiring to commit wire fraud. Court records state that Daniel Akira Mills, 22, used a cyber intrusion method called “SIM swapping” to defraud victims out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in property between August 2019 and February 2021.

After that, Mills would have control over a device that received the victim’s calls and messages and would have access to the victim’s accounts.
In addition, Mills and his accomplices shared private images taken from celebrity accounts and left messages on the social media accounts of their victims.
More than $600,000 in cryptocurrency was taken from dozens of victims across the country using this scam. Bubble comments COMMENT FIRST IF YOU CAN Apart from the two-year jail term, Mills is also required to reimburse the victims for over $530,000.
